Design and Implementation Issues of a Novel Interactive e-learning System |

In the last decade, the world is witnessing the boom of rich internet applications, such as video conferencing, real-time multimedia and collaboration applications, which strongly affect many aspects of daily human life. Obviously, E-learning does not stand out of this evolution. This paper describes design and implementation issues of a modern integrated e-learning system based on video streaming technology. In order to answer the growing demand of new learning methodologies in Vietnam, the author has led a team to develop a new e-learning system, which is expected to encourage the wide deployment of e-learning in Vietnam. During this three year project, many practical results have been found, which would be very useful not only for other similar R&D projects, but also for evaluating e-learning products. The paper is organized as follows: the first section gives an overview on the problems of e-learning in Vietnam; the second section describes the design process of the e-learning system, followed by its implementation. The fourth section is dedicated for the trial testbed to validate the effectiveness of the new system. After discussing on the results of the testbed, the last section ends the paper by giving some conclusions and future directions of the project. |
